Several Covington area residents wrote a number of songs about St. Tammany rivers in an effort to draw attention to their contributions to the city's history. During a special program given at the Covington City Hall Gazebo in the mid-1990's, the song "In Love Again With Covington" was performed by Carol Jahncke, Roseanne Bivens, Jerry Hess and Ron Barthet. Pat Clanton emceed the program and Mayor Keith Villere gave the welcome.

The art festival occupies several blocks of Covington's main business street, Columbia Street, which was reportedly named after Columbia, MS, because of the wagon loads of farmer's harvest brought in from Columbia and taken to ships waiting at the Bogue Falaya River dock for shipment to New Orleans. The festival features dozens of artists and craftsmen from across the South. I served on the committee which was tasked with naming the brand new festival almost 20 years ago.
